no time

these days, i realized i don’t have much time. first, i have my job at deloitte as a consultant. jacks a bunch of hours from my day + the commute time + eating. right now, my client is all the way in agoura hills, ca. that’s an hour drive each way. to make use of this waste of time in traffic, i’m learning japanese from an audio book. “watashiwa ni hongoga squoshee wakarimas”.

besides deloitte, i’ve been day trading since august. this requires me to do a lot of research or if i go in blindly, i might as well go to vegas and put it on BLACK. but suprisingly, i’ve been doing well. i’m up 30+% although i did lose a crap load in 10 minutes because i was in a meeting and couldn’t watch AAPL get shorted like no other after their Q4 earnings results; drop $8 bucks in 5 minutes. in any case, i’m planning to recover from the loss that day by setting a goal amount to earn each day. so far so good. fyi, i’m still up 30%.

so i have deloitte + day trading. for day trading, i research companies when i get home and trade the morning thereafter starting from 6:00am PST.

why? i want the money. i don’t want the “money” itself but what money can offer. it will let me reward myself for my hard work and achievements. in 2 years from this day, i will make a goal to purchase my dream car, porsche 911 turbo.

some may argue why i want to spend so much money all on a car as a car’s purpose is to get you from point a to b. right now, i have everything i need. i just purchased a condo with a friend and do not want to purchase a “home” until my 30s. besides, a nice car means more to me at my age then it will after i am 40. in my late 40s, i’ll probably be making twice as much money and probably could afford a porsche 911 turbo but i will not want to drive one. at that age, i’d be satisifed with a decent luxury sedan i.e. bmw 5 series. whenever i see old grandpa’s driving porsche’s, i laugh. most of them bought that car to (1) feel young again and (2) because they could not afford one when they were younger. all they get from driving at that age is self-satisfaction but no one really cares. i gave my friend an analogy of this. in highschool, most kids learn calculus. you’re considered smart but it’s not much of an achievement. if you knew calculus when you’re in jr. high, that’s something to be proud of. same goes for this car.

wish me luck.
