In a new twist on traditional college rankings, SmartMoney took a crack at quantifying the long-term value of a college education. The result? A unique “payback” ratio for each school. Topping the list for public colleges is the University of Georgia with a 338% average payback. Texas A&M, Univ. of Texas, Georgia Tech and Univ. of Washington. For liberal arts colleges Washington & Lee tops list with a 145% payback and for Ivy League schools Princeton tops the list with a 132% payback.
